Rationale
1. The dictionary meaning is “The range within which sound can be heard by the unaided ear; hearing distance: eg listened until the parade was out of Earshot.
2. The name has Energy , Action , Direction and a sense of some kind of Volume – just as one is energised by a shot of brandy or having a target and direction like actual shooting.
Vision & Mission
- To provide a platform solely dedicated to showcase Singapore books, films and music.
- To be a one-stop venue where people, not just tourists, will be able to find all Singapore books, films and music.
- To promote Singapore works to an equal, if not higher, standing than the imported ones.
“It is never about breaking even financially but about making a statement! Our margin may be very low but our intent is very strong. We want to provide a place for all Singapore books, films and music to be showcased!
We want to support and give due acknowledgement to the local arts industry and we are prepared to pump in as much resources as we can, not just in terms of funding but also in providing more business opportunities and sharing our marketing knowledge.
We want our children to know what the Singapore works are and where to get them, and to encourage our next generation to pursue their dreams of one day becoming a writer, director or musician!
I am confident that more corporations and individuals will step forward to support this endeavour and we look forward to working with all of you toward developing a more creatively vibrant Singapore .”
